Mechanism of actionCholinergic agonist at the trigeminal parasympathetic pathway; stimulates basal tear film production via the nasolacrimal reflex. Administered intranasally, not on the eye.
Indication / reason for useSigns and symptoms of dry eye disease.
Usual adult dosing1 spray in each nostril twice daily.

Common / important adverse effectsSneezing (very common), nasal/throat irritation, cough, instillation-site pain.
