Mechanism of actionPotent FP-receptor agonist increasing uveoscleral outflow.
Indication / reason for useOpen-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
Usual adult dosing1 drop once daily in the evening.
PreservativeTravatan Z is BAK-free (uses SofZia / polyquaternium) , a preservative-free option exists
Contact lensesTravatan Z's non-BAK preservative is gentler, but the label still advises removing lenses and reinserting after 15 minutes.
Common / important adverse effectsHyperemia, iris/periocular pigmentation, lash changes, periorbitopathy; class CME caution.
Contraindications & cautionsAs for the PGA class.
Pregnancy / lactationAvoid where possible, animal data show fetal loss.
Practice notesA good PGA choice when BAK sensitivity or ocular surface disease is a concern.
