Mechanism of actionRetro-metabolically designed ester corticosteroid; potent local anti-inflammatory that is rapidly de-esterified to an inactive metabolite, lowering IOP-spike and cataract risk.
Indication / reason for useShort-term (up to 2 weeks) treatment of dry-eye disease flares.
Usual adult dosing1-2 drops in each eye 4×/day for up to 2 weeks. Shake before use.
PreservativeBAK 0.01%
Contact lensesRemove lenses before use; do not wear lenses if eyes are inflamed. Reinsert 15 min after dose if wear is permitted.
Common / important adverse effectsInstillation-site pain; with longer use, IOP rise, cataract, delayed healing, secondary infection.
Contraindications & cautionsActive viral (herpes simplex epithelial keratitis), fungal or mycobacterial ocular infection.
Pregnancy / lactationNo adequate data; topical ocular steroid systemic exposure is low.
