Mechanism of actionBinds ergosterol, forming membrane pores. Preferred for yeast (Candida) keratitis and endophthalmitis.
Indication / reason for useYeast keratitis; adjunct in filamentous keratitis; fungal endophthalmitis (intravitreal, specialist).
Usual adult dosingKeratitis: 1 drop q1h initially, tapering over weeks.

Contact lensesNo lens wear during fungal keratitis.
Common / important adverse effectsMarked surface toxicity, punctate keratopathy, yellow staining, iritis with prolonged use.
